Take it down a notch.

The Brunswick River is one of the most beautiful river systems in New South Wales. We paddle it on the high tide, when the water turns crystal clean and calm.

It is a gentle paced paddle. The only interruptions are the sea birds and wildlife calling out as you go by, and your guide pointing out what lives along the bank.

Here is how a tour runs. Follow the kayak down the page.

Scout Hall, 10 minutes before

Meet on the river side of the hall

Find us at the Brunswick Heads Scout Hall garage, 38-40 South Beach Road. Walk around to the river side. Your guide fits your lifejacket, gives a safety briefing and teaches you the basics.

Pushing off on the high tide

Clear, calm water

We pick the time each day to match the tide, so you paddle when the river is at its clearest. Sit on top kayaks, easy to learn, no experience needed.

Past the dunes

Sand on one side, river on the other

Breathe in the clean salty air as you paddle past the sand dunes that separate the river from the beach.

A stop on the bank

Time for a swim

We pull up on the river bank, chill out and look at the marine life in the shallows. Swim if you like before the paddle home.

Sunset tour

Into the mangroves

Paddle into mangrove lined channels, the natural filters of the river. Look for rays below you, and herons, eagles and kingfishers settling in for the night.

Sunset tour, as twilight sets

Colour on the water, then home

We pause mid river for the sunset and photos, then paddle back as the light goes. Times follow the sunset through the year.

The tide sets the clock

The nature tour runs at a different time each day, so we can go when the tide is high and the water is clearest. The sunset tour moves with the sunset.
